I made this recording one morning in May or June 1985, while Iordanis was staying at our home in Utrecht. Listen to the maestro singing “Anthrope”, a zeïbekiko by Apostolos Kaldaras, while he accompanies himself on baglama. In those days my recording equipment was stand-by day and night, so I was able to catch this rare moment on tape. Alas, I had forgotten to switch on one of the microphones. The result was a one-channel recording. After a warming-up intro of almost three minutes Iordanis starts to sing. When he gets to the third couplet he loses track. Riki suggests he go to the bathroom to jog his memory. After a false start he remembers the correct lines just in time... Recording engineer Harry Coster made the two-channel mono transfer.
